Quartzite Polishing in San Tan Valley and the East Valley

Quartzite polishing for counters, islands and vanities that have gone dull, hazy or worn where you work most. We refine the stone itself with diamond abrasives, worked wet, and bring honed and leathered tops back to their own texture. Free in-home estimate.

Estimates are free and in person, because the right answer depends on the stone.

Why hard stone needs diamonds

True quartzite sits around 7 on the Mohs scale, harder than the steel in a knife. Daily use still wears it, just slowly: grit under pans and stoneware dulls the busiest areas first, and the shine fades unevenly.

  • Diamond abrasives, worked wetOnly diamond cuts quartz efficiently. Water keeps the pad cool and holds the dust in the slurry.
  • Finer stages, one after anotherEach pass removes the scratches of the one before until the sheen is even.
  • Marble powders do nothing hereThey work by reacting with calcite, which true quartzite does not have.

Resined faces: why we test first

Many slabs leave the factory with resin worked into the face to fill tiny pits and fissures.

That resin is softer than the stone. Polishing too hard can cut through it and leave a patch with a different look from the rest of the top. A small test in a low-traffic spot shows how the face responds, and we tell you what we found before going further.

Honed and leathered tops keep their texture

Not every quartzite is meant to shine.

A honed top is an even matte; a leathered top has a soft, textured feel that follows the stone. We restore each to its own finish rather than polishing it to a gloss, unless you ask for a change and the slab suits it.

What polishing fixes, and what it does not

Polishing works on the surface. It does not reach what soaked in or broke off.

Polishing fixes

Wear at the surface

  • Dull work zones beside the sink, stove and prep areas.
  • Haze and fine scratches from grit and daily wiping.
  • Etch marks on slabs that turn out to be dolomite or marble; see quartzite vs. marble.
Polishing does not fix

What is in or under the surface

What to expect when we work on your quartzite

  1. Identify the stone and finish

We confirm true quartzite, dolomite or marble, and whether it is polished, honed or leathered.

  2. Protect and test

Cabinets, sink and floor are covered. A small test shows how the face and any resin respond.

  3. Refine wet with diamonds

Diamond abrasives, worked wet through finer stages, take out the wear and bring the finish back.

  4. Clean, inspect, seal if needed

We remove the slurry, check the finish in side light with you, and seal where it helps.

Get an estimate for your quartzite

Your estimate depends on how much stone there is, how worn it is, the finish you have, whether the face is resined, and whether stains or chips need work first. We look at the slab in person and set out the scope before any work starts.

Send a photo of the whole surface and a close-up of the mark, with your city and any products already used. Photos help us plan the visit; we test the stone before confirming the work.

Based in San Tan Valley, we serve Queen Creek, Gilbert, Mesa and Chandler, along with the rest of the East Valley.

Questions before booking

Will my quartzite look new after polishing?

The worn zone will match the rest of the top, with one even sheen. Stains, chips and deep scratches are separate problems; we point out anything polishing will not change before we start.

How long does polishing take?

Most kitchens and vanities are one visit. A large island, a deeply worn work zone or a slab that needs honing first takes longer. We give you a time frame at the estimate.

Will the dull patch come back?

True quartzite wears slowly, so a polished top stays even for years. If the slab turns out to be dolomite or marble, lemon and vinegar will dull it again, and we explain the care that stone needs.

Can I fix it with a marble polishing powder?

Not on true quartzite. Those powders are made to react with calcite, and quartzite has almost none, so they do nothing. If a powder does work, the slab is likely marble or dolomite.

My slab was resined at the factory. Is polishing safe?

Usually, with care. Polishing can cut through a resined face and leave a patch that looks different, so we test a small area first and tell you what we found before going further.
